The satisfaction of watching the horse progress through their preparations and watching them come on from the earliest stages of their life is a reason why Jon O’Connor gets up every morning.
“There is so much hard work involved in winning a race but the thrill of winning and celebrating the wins with the owners is a great attraction to me.” – Jon O’Connor
Jon O’Connor rode professionally for over 25 years in Victoria and South Australia. Jon also worked as a journalist for a number of years writing articles on South Australian harness racing and general racing issues. Racing has been his life for over 40 years now and although there are a lot of ups and down he remains as motivated and hungry for success as he has ever been.
One of many many highlights at Jon O’Connor Racing would be Blahnik winning the Pink Ribbon Cup at Caulfield in 2015. The fact he has had runners and winners capable of matching it with Victoria’s best demonstrates Jon’s willingness to travel with his horses when he thinks he has one capable of getting the job done interstate. Magic Boy and Fitocrocy have also been marvelous performers for the stable winning group and listed races.
Jon is nothing short of thankful for his owners support and when you have a horse with Jon O’Connor Racing you are regularly kept up to date about the horse’s health and well-being and how they are progressing throughout their campaigns. Jon thinks it a privilege to train for owners as they have invested and trust in him and his staff to get the best out of their horse.
